How GoWith works

What Happens If Your Activity Partner Cancels Last Minute?

A partner cancels at 7 AM for your 9 AM meet. What does GoWith do? Here is the policy, the refund, and the rebook mechanics.

A phone showing a cancelled booking notification

A partner cancels at 7 AM for your 9 AM meet. Three questions: what does GoWith do, how fast do you get your money back, and what happens to the partner. Here is the full picture.

You get a full refund, immediately

Any partner-initiated cancellation — however close to the meet time — results in a full refund to the booker. The escrow releases the money back to the original payment method. UPI refunds land within 24 hours; card refunds within 3-5 business days (bank-dependent, not GoWith-dependent). The booker sees a Refund in progress line on the booking screen within minutes of the partner's cancel action.

Nothing about this is at the booker's discretion. There is no retry, no partial release, no "it's probably fine" judgment call. Partner cancelled, booker is made whole.

The platform offers you a rebook

Alongside the refund notification, the booker sees a Rebook strip at the top of the booking screen — the three closest matching partners for the same slot, pre-filtered by the activity you booked, the city, and (where possible) a similar price range. Tapping one skips the normal filtering flow and takes you straight to a one-tap Confirm with the escrow pre-filled from the refund.

If no close match is available at the exact slot, the strip shows the three nearest slots on the same day. This is one place where the platform's density matters — in Mumbai or Delhi you almost always have a rebook option; in a tier-2 city at an off-hour, sometimes you don't.

What happens to the partner

A single partner-initiated cancellation is a soft strike — tracked on the account, not visible to anyone else, no immediate consequence. The cancellation is weighted by how close to the meet time it happened. A cancellation 24 hours out is a 0.1 strike; 2 hours out is a 1.0 strike; a no-show (no cancellation, just doesn't check in) is a 2.0 strike.

Accumulated strikes trigger a tiered response: 3.0 strikes in 60 days warn the partner, 5.0 strikes limit their visibility on the Browse page, 8.0 strikes suspend the account pending review. This is the mechanism that keeps show-up rates high — partners who develop a flake pattern get filtered out of discovery, so bookers see mostly reliable partners by default.

The exception — platform-initiated cancellations

Occasionally GoWith cancels on the partner's behalf — safety concern we flagged, KYC lapse, platform outage during the meet window. These do not count as a partner strike. The booker still gets a full refund + the rebook strip.

What the data says about cancellation rates

Across all activities, partner-initiated cancellation rate is about 6% of all accepted bookings. The majority of those are 12+ hours out (weather, double-booking caught early). Last-hour cancellations are rare — 1.4% of all bookings. No-shows (no cancel + no check-in) are rarer still — 0.4%.

In practical terms: if you book 20 meets, you'll see 1 cancellation at ~24 hours out, and almost certainly zero no-shows.

Booker-initiated cancellations are different

If you need to cancel: 12+ hours before the meet is full refund; less than 12 hours is 50% refund; after the meet start time is no refund. These rules exist because the partner has committed their time; last-minute booker cancellations have real cost to the partner.

FAQ

What if I don't want to rebook?

Fine — just don't tap any of the suggestions. The refund still processes automatically. You can book a different slot a different day whenever you want.

Can I report the partner for cancelling?

Yes if there is a specific pattern or reason — the Report flow accepts "Serial cancellation" as a reason code. The system is already tracking cancellation strikes but a booker report adds qualitative context the moderators consider.
