Instant vs Scheduled Bookings: What New Activity Partners Should Accept First

Instant bookings pay 25% more. Scheduled bookings give you a predictable calendar. For a new Activity Partner, which should you accept first? Not what you'd think.

GoWith has two booking modes: Instant (available now, +25% premium, must accept within 2 minutes) and Scheduled (future date, standard rate, 24+ hour notice). New Activity Partners default to accepting both, which seems like the obvious answer. For the first 2-4 weeks it is actually the wrong default. Here is which to lean into when, and why.

Weeks 1-2 — accept Instant preferentially

Instant bookings have three properties that matter when you have no ratings. First, they pay 25% more. Second, they test your actual availability — a booker who taps Instant has decided within 5 minutes; a partner who shows up gets rated promptly, which bank-rolls the first ratings fast. Third, Instant signals to GoWith's Browse ranking that you are a live, responsive partner; the algorithm cycles live partners higher.

For the first 2 weeks, mark yourself Available during a defined window (say, Saturday 10 AM-6 PM) and sit in the app during that window. Any Instant booking that comes in, accept inside the 2-minute window. The target is 4-6 completed Instant bookings in the first fortnight — enough to bank the first ratings and verify the activity actually works.

Weeks 3-6 — pivot to a mix

By week 3 with 3-5 ratings in, Scheduled bookings start arriving (bookers plan ahead for highly-rated partners). This is the right moment to accept both. The target composition shifts toward 60% Scheduled / 40% Instant, which smooths your calendar and makes the Sunday long-run or Saturday full-day activities feasible.

Months 2+ — Scheduled-first with Instant on the margin

At 10+ ratings with a strong average, Scheduled is the structural win. You can book a week ahead, say no to inconvenient slots, and treat GoWith as a predictable side income. Instant becomes a fill-the-gap mechanism — if a Scheduled booking cancels or you have an unexpected free afternoon, flip to Available and let Instant catch it.

The hidden cost of Instant

Instant requires you to actually be available on the clock. If you accept Instant bookings while on a day job and can't check in on time, your cancellation strikes rack up fast — see our breakdown of what happens when a partner cancels. One or two is fine; a pattern is a visibility penalty. For partners with inflexible day jobs, Scheduled-only after the first ratings is often the right call despite the 25% rate hit.

What top partners actually do

The partners in the top 10% of their city's earnings have, almost without exception, a 70/30 Scheduled/Instant split. The 30% Instant is deliberate — the premium matters, and it fills gaps in the week. Below the top 10%, the split varies more; partners who try to be 100% Instant tend to burn out, partners who are 100% Scheduled grow slower.

FAQ

Can I accept Instant and then switch my availability off?

Yes — go off-Available in the app anytime. New Instant requests stop immediately; already-accepted bookings still happen. Many partners toggle this at the end of a session so they don't get a second Instant request while finishing the first.

Does the 25% premium show up as a bigger payout to me?

Yes. The premium is on the booking amount; your 85% (post-commission) is calculated after the premium is applied. ₹800 base + 25% = ₹1,000 booking → ₹850 to the partner on Instant vs ₹680 on Scheduled.
